About Me

Kailee Bal is a fourth year Painting student working towards a Bachelors in Fine Arts enrolled at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Living in such an area as Dundalk, Kailee's adolescent upbringing was contained in an area of old, connected housing developments turned into rental townhouses, run-down shopping outlets, a dying mall, and a few schools or churches fabricated in the 1960s.
By her teen years, she moved to Appalachia. Rich with permanence and a proud population that touts a longstanding history that has transcended its time and outlived its abused environment. West Virginia gave Kailee a striking visual contrast to her childhood outside of Baltimore. Through her time here, she has garnered a great fascination with the histories held within a landscape. These histories—and their visual representation—are what ultimately fuel not only the work she makes as an artist but also her interpretation of the world and desire to unfold hidden facets of the space she inhabits. Now finished with undergrad, Kailee is enrolled for The University of New Orleans Master's in Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art.
